Mr. Scheetz has 23 years of private equity, venture capital and corporate finance experience. Mr. Scheetz co-
founded Heartland Capital in 2003 and is the Managing Partner of the firm where he supervises all investment
and management activities for the venture arm as well as all investment activities of the Heartland affiliates.
Previously, Mr. Scheetz worked for two large scale private equity firms that invested over $3 billion of institutional equity from their funds and controlled over $10 billion in assets in their portfolio companies in a variety of industries. Mr. Scheetz was primarily responsible for the identification, underwriting, valuation, financings and growth initiatives of the portfolio investments. During his investment career, Mr. Scheetz has been involved with more than 100 closed transactions totaling over $10 billion in total value, including numerous public market executions on Wall Street, several notable IPOs, Tender Offers, Secondary Offerings, and M&A transactions as well as several large scale exits, and the New York Stock Exchange Deal of the Year in 1995.
Mr. Scheetz has been involved as a significant early stage investor in several ventures over his career including but not limited to: Corduro (a mobile payment technology platform designed to assist not-for-profit organizations and healthcare companies raise money and increase charitable donations), Organ Transport Systems, Teleport Media Group, Sandstream Communications, Hyphen Solutions, and Substrate Technologies. Mr. Scheetz was also involved in the acquisition and financing strategies for the venture subsidiaries of The Forum Group of healthcare companies and Omega Healthcare and was intimately involved in supporting the board of both of those companies with respect to the their growth strategies. In 2010, Mr. Scheetz became involved in helping to shape and write proposed legislation and operational guidelines and policies for free-standing emergency hospitals in the state of Texas.
Mr. Scheetz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and English Composition with a minor in Business Administration 1990 from DePauw University. Over his career, Mr. Scheetz has held various directorships at public and private companies, and has chaired various committees, including audit. Today, Mr. Scheetz is the Chairman of Heartland Ventures, and Organ Transport Systems, and is the Series A Board Member of Corduro, Inc., on behalf of partner, Google Ventures. Mr. Scheetz is a contributor to The Miles Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to children and education and is a volunteer coach to youth sports
in Dallas.
